About Councilmember Fred Shorett

Fred Shorett, a 3rd-generation San Bernardino resident and small businessman, was elected to represent the citizens of the 4th Ward in a Special Election in March of 2009.  He received more than 72% of the total vote.

Shorett brings over 30 years of local business experience to the City Council.  He served as General Manager at Crown Printers and is currently a self-employed small businessman in the printing and packaging industry.  For the past 23 years, he has been a member of the Supervisory Committee for Arrowhead Credit Union.

Fred is a Combat Veteran who served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War.  He was awarded two Bronze Stars and is a Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Shorett has been active in many local community organizations.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Lighthouse for the Blind.  His previous civic leadership roles include:  Board Member of Little League Post 777 and Board Member of the San Bernardino Montessori School.

Fred graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1967 and attended San Bernardino Valley College and California State University, San Bernardino.  He is the proud father of two beautiful daughters.

Councilmember Fred Shorett currently serves on the Legislative Review Committee and the Education Bridge Committee.
