Youth Sports

Youth sports programming is back! Recreation Coordinator Felicia Brown is leading the charge with Pee-wee Basketball, T-ball, a Spring Sports Camp and more to come. Here's everything you need to know about registering your child.

Each child who registers for a youth sport will receive a City of San Bernardino youth sports t-shirt, picture package and individual participant award. A copy of a birth certificate is due at the time of registration of all youth sports. Registration is accepted at the Hernandez Community Center, 222 N. Lugo Avenue, or the Parks and Recreation main office, 201 N. E Street. Youth sports registration is in person only, no mail-in registration. We accept cash, credit cards and checks.

Spring Break Sports Camp

The City of San Bernardino Parks and Recreation Department will be having a two-week Spring Break Sports Camp at Delmann Heights Community Center. Participants will learn four different sports (basketball, baseball, soccer, and football). This Camp is designed to teach participants 7 - 12 years old the basic fundamentals of each sport, which includes: dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, catching, fielding, batting, kicking, conditioning, and training.
The Spring Break Sports Camp will be from Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. between March 21 – March 31. Registration begins February 14. The fee is $15 for residents and $16.50 for non-residents. PLEASE NOTE: Space is limited.

T-ball (Lil' Sluggers) - Registration closes March 16

Registration is open now through March 16, 2017. This T-ball program is designed to introduce participant’s ages 3 - 6 years old to organized practices and games. Lil Sluggers will be a fun, non-competitive, instructional program that will teach age appropriate baseball/softball techniques. Participants will also be taught teamwork and sportsmanship. Lil Sluggers will run Saturday mornings for eight weeks beginning March 28, 2017. Practice will be twice a week until games start, thereafter practice will go down to once a week. Parents may register their child at Hernandez Community Center, 222 N. Lugo Avenue, or the Parks and Recreation main office, 201 N. E Street, 3rd Floor (entrance accessible through the top level of the adjacent parking structure). The fee is $30 for residents and $33 for non-residents. Fees Include a t-shirt, cap, picture packet, and a trophy.

Pee-wee Winter Basketball (Mini Ballers) - Thanks to our participants!

Mini baller logoThe Pee-wee Basketball program, Mini Ballers, is designed to introduce participants' ages, 3 to 6 years of age, to organized practices and games. Mini Ballers will be a fun, non-competitive, instructional program that will teach age appropriate basketball techniques. Participants will also be taught teamwork and sportsmanship. 

We had over 70 participants in the our winter session and look forward to bringing back another session in the summer.
