spay/neuter programs

It is important for all animals be spayed or neutered to decrease the unwanted pet population. To assist with this, shelter staff will transport adopted animals to the local vet for alteration. The owner can then pick up their new pet from the clinic.

Effective April 5, 2007, the City of San Bernardino passed a mandatory spay/neuter ordinance requiring all dogs over the age of four months to be spayed or neutered. A registered purebred show dog that has competed in at least one dog show or competition during the year is exempt.
