 | | | Why do we need volunteers? - Volunteers are an integral part of animal shelter operations. They provide "the extras", like walking, socializing and grooming pets. They also help us by showing animals to prospective adopters in hopes that animals will have an opportunity to go to a loving, caring home. What Activities Will I have to perform? ¨ Walking and socializing dogs. ¨ Assisting the public and helping place animals in new homes. ¨ Feeding, watering and taking care of animals with special needs. ¨ Helping staff with other tasks as necessary. | What are the requirements to be a volunteer? Be 18 years of age and be able to make the time commitment. It really takes a good bit of training to get a volunteer ready to work and we really count on them to show up. Saturday's are busy adoption days so we always need help then. The shelter opens at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday. How do I become a Volunteer? Come to the shelter and pick up a volunteer application. Arrange to meet with our volunteer coordinator (normally on Saturday) and she will evaluate you and asses our needs.
