Welcome to the City of San Bernardino Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department Mentoring Program. This program represents a key component of the Governor's Mentoring Partnership, which has a goal of providing every child in need with a stable, caring adult mentor.

Young people today struggle with many difficulties, including teen pregnancy, educational support, gang violence and drug use. By providing stable caring adult mentors, we can help reduce some of these problems. Providing mentors helps create a generation of life-long learners.

Mentoring works! Research shows that mentoring has proven to be an effective strategy in helping students learn the value of education, improve academic performance, and develop job related and life management skills.

The City of San Bernardino Mentoring Program provides mentors to youth attending local San Bernardino schools and collaborates with the San Bernardino County Public Health Department Focus Project and various other agencies. This program provides recreational, educational, and artistic alternatives to young people (12 to 19 year-old).

We greatly appreciate your interest in becoming partners with the many committed volunteers who already have taken the step to make a difference in a BIG WAY!

If you have an interest in becoming a mentor, please contact Gabriel at 885-1847 for more information.  ............................
