On Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at about 8:12 PM, uniformed patrol officers heard shots being fired in the area of East 21th Street and North Lugo Avenue in San Bernardino. Officers responded towards the area and located two shooting victims. Paramedics from the San Bernardino City Fire Department responded to provide emergency medical care. Mr. Michael Wagner (age 20, from San Bernardino) was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died of his wounds. An adult female victim was also transported to a local area hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.
Mr. Wagner was a known gang member; however, it is unknown what the motive for the shooting was. No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
