The Farmshare Market is the first step towards creating a full and interactive market place and combating food insecurity, in San Bernardino. In the pipeline are food trucks, health screenings and healthcare information, fresh baked bread, hummus, a walking club, recipe exchanges, cooking demonstrations, a trip to the Old Grove Orange hub and more. Previously coined the “Citrus Belt” of Southern California, the Inland Empire was known for its citrus groves and agriculture at the end of the 19th century. While farming has diminished in prevalence, there remain several farmers. And it has not been all tangerines. With the rise of corporate farming and the arrival of the Asian Citrus Psyllid (a small insect carrying bacterium that can be decimate citrus groves in the region), farmers are now changing their method of delivery.
