In November 2016, 55.12 percent of San Bernardino city registered voters approved Measure O, the citizen-initiated San Bernardino Regulate Marijuana Act of 2016. The initiative seeks to replace the previous ban on marijuana businesses in the City with a regulatory and permitting system.
At this time, City departments are in the process of integrating the provisions of Measure O into the City's existing Development Code, developing procedures for receiving applications, and identifying provisions that may require interpretation and clarification prior to implementation. The San Bernardino Development Code and Measure O are both complex legal regulatory frameworks and it will require time to properly implement this new law.
The City expects to have an update on its progress in March. For more information, interested parties are encouraged to visit SBCity.org/MeasureO or contact the Community Development Department at 909-384-5057.
The results of the election, as certified by the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters on December 5, 2016, can be found online at www.sbcounty.gov.
