 | The Environmental Control Section operates a brine waste disposal station which discharges to the Santa Ana Regional Interceptor (SARI). The SARI station is designed to accept high strength TDS wastewater which is not permitted to be discharged to the SBMWD Water Reclamation Plant. The SARI station is operated under an agreement with the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District (MUNI). Regulations which govern the discharge of brine wastewater to the SARI station are included in MUNI Ordinance 73-SARI. Industrial Users within the MUNI service area are required to submit a SARI Indirect Discharger Permit application which must be reviewed and approved before a permit to discharge is issued. Liquid Waste Haulers who transport the brine wastewater to the SARI station must also complete the respective permit application for review and approval prior to transporting any brine waste to the SARI Station. The cost to discharge the high strength TDS wastewater to the SARI station is currently $.05/gallon.
