 | The San Bernardino Municipal Water Department's (SBMWD) Cross-Connection Control Program meets Federal and State requirements to protect our drinking water supply from contamination or pollution, via back-siphonage or back-pressure. Water Quality staff work with consumers, plumbing contractors, and the State of California Department of Public Health to eliminate potential dangers by requiring the installation and annual testing of backflow prevention devices. Our Cross-Connection Control Program requires routine inspections of industrial, commercial, and certain residential facilities for hazards that would require the installation of backflow prevention devices. Letters are sent out annually explaining the requirements that may vary from the need to install, test, repair, or replace backflow prevention devices. If you should receive a letter from the SBMWD stating such a need, please comply with the requirement(s) as outlined in the letter(s). Together, we can continue to provide a safe and potable water supply for all within the City of San Bernardino to drink and enjoy! Rules & Regulations #22
